A painting by the famous marine painter Aivazovsky entitled “Sea. Koktebel Bay ”was written in the XVIII century in a realistic manner and is dedicated to the artist’s homeland, its beauty and feelings, which causes its nature.

In general, the composition of "Koktebel Bay" is simple. Closest to the viewer is a boat left by someone on the beach. Apparently a strong wind blows, because the sail of a fragile "vessel", painted with sunset rays, bends, trembles.

It seems that someone (or something?) Is lying under the mast: a vague, dark figure is visible either from the owner of the boat, or from someone else.

Two rocks add darkness to the picture. Because of one of them, the setting sun peeps out. Obviously, night will come soon: the month of the rising moon has frozen in the sky.

The masterfully painted sea is raging - the ship rolls heavily to the side, although the waves are not so great. Obviously, the tide began: the sand, visible to the viewer, seems wet. It may have rained: a part of the deep blue sky is covered with clouds that seem to go after the Sun. Some people who are susceptible to changes in nature know that this is how often the world looks after a downpour at sunset.

After a long examination of the picture, it may seem that the sea is moving and is already beginning to calm down, as if about to fall asleep, getting ready for bed, whipping up the white pillows, hiding in a soft blanket of clouds (see how it pulls its edge towards you!). And then the Sun will remind the viewer of the lamp, which is about to be turned off, and the Moon will appear as a night lamp, which remains with the sleepy sea.

At first the picture is perceived as integral: the accents are so skillfully placed. Nevertheless, some details can grab attention, because they tell some incredible, but still somewhat ordinary stories that occurred during the life of Aivazovsky in his homeland.
